Rikt djurliv i området för den naturintresserade. Bävern simmar förbi varje vår/höst. Hägerns kommer i mars och även en kärrhök häckar i vassen. Älg, rådjur och harar samt mycket sjöfågel finns att skåda. Uggla och havsörn är inte ovanligt att se.

Mariefreds stadskärna når du på 10-15 min cykeltur, ca 5 km. Om längtan till storstan blir stark så ligger Läggesta station 1,5 km bort. Med bil tar det ca 40 min till Stockholms city.
